Why Join Cub Scouts?
Scouting is all about encouraging boys and girls to make friends, be helpful to others, and do their very best no matter the outcome. With the help of powerful learning projects and exciting outdoor activities, we aim to teach kids that doing their best can be a fun and rewarding experience—no matter the difficulty of the challenge. We provide opportunities for your family to do fun things together where we can grow into our very best selves!
A Word
From a Parent
“Scouts has been such a great experience for my kids. Our son and daughters seem to always come home asking when the next activity is – not wanting to miss a single thing. We cherish the chance for them to get outside, make friends in an experiential way, and build character while having fun at the same time. They’re having a blast and we’re grateful they get to participate in something so fun and formative.”

Frequently Asked Questions
We want to help make sure your questions are answered as you consider if your child and family would benefit from being part of scouts. You are always welcome to reach out with specific questions or to learn more through a conversation with a leader. Simply put, we’d love to have you. Learn more about scouting in our area by watching the video below, or check out the frequently asking questions by clicking the + sign next to each question.
Our Charter Organization
Every scout pack has a “charter organization” that provides an official organization to connect with for support and more. Each Charter Organization has a representative as part of the pack leadership structure. We are grateful to be chartered by the North Trail Elementary Parent Teacher Partnership, represented by Kate Fay, PTP Board President.
When do you meet?
There are generally two monthly meetings. One of those is a “pack” meeting, typically held the 2nd Monday of each month (with a few exceptions for special events). This is when the whole group meets, Lions (kindergarten) through AOLs (5th grade). There are also “den” meetings, when grade/rank groups meet for adventures. These meetings are set by the Den Leader in partnership with the group of parents and families involved. There are also special activities throughout the year when meeting times change to accommodate these events. See the calendar for details.
What costs are involved?
First things first, finances should never be a reason that keeps someone from scouting. Our council and pack will ensure any financial restraints are met with discrete help to remove that roadblock. Dues are around $200 per scouting year. These are paid during annual registration in late summer (or in two installments). Other costs include the scout uniform, optional camps and special activities, and summer camp. All of these costs can be offset by our fall fundraising efforts that all scouts can participate in.
We've never done scouts before!
That’s great! We’ll be sure to walk you through things – both parents and scouts – to make sure the experience is fun-filled and low-stress.
What if my child has unique needs
Everyone can find a place in scouts, no matter the unique or special needs. We’ll partner with parents to help makes sure each child is safe, has fun, and has a path to fully experience everything possible.
